Daniel Boey: Confessions of a (fashion) godfather
Fashion & Lifestyle Curator / Creative Director (13 Apr 2015)

About the Talk

Daniel Boey has been dubbed the “Godfather of Singapore fashion”, but he is NOT a fashion designer. He stumbled into the rags trade 25 years ago and has never looked back, but what exactly does he do? In 2014, he released his autobiography, The Book of Daniel: Adventures of a Fashion Insider that gives us an insight into his life and work. Part memoir, part chronicle of Singapore's fashion history, Boey also draws the parallel narrative of his own life and career alongside the larger historical narrative of Singapore's fashion in the past decades. His clients include fashion power houses Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Fendi, Tiffany, Jean Paul Gaultier, Paloma Picasso, Hugo Boss, Herve Leger and Vera Wang.
Daniel Boey asks the question: how do we remain open to embrace change amidst the force of media and global influences without losing our own sense of identity and style? How do we weave the threads of our identity to tell our story in our own voice?
We welcome you to join one of Asia's most respected fashion authorities as he ponders on the issue of self, place, and the role of story in crafting a strong sense of personal identity and signature in a globalised world stage.
