About the Speaker

John E.L. Wong, Isabel Chan Professor of Medical Sciences, is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Health Sciences Authority, Singapore, Vice Provost (Academic Medicine) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Director of the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), and Deputy Chief Executive of the National University Health System (NUHS). He was past Dean of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS (2003–2011).
A medical oncologist-haematologist, Dr. Wong obtained his MBBS from NUS (Class of 1981) and did his residency and fellowship at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, where he was the Chief Resident in Medicine, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. 

He is active in both academic oncology as well as in academic medicine, and serves on international boards and committees including the Hastings Center, the M8 Alliance, the Association of Academic Health Centers (International), and the Advisory Board to the Government of Qatar on Academic Medicine.
